Brew Boys - Seeing Double

Welcome to South Australia and another beer that embarks on a journey for the pallet that you will thank me for. This Scotch ale sits at 8% and has fruity notes on the nose that are akin to a fine wine. The pallet is fresh and fruity like a Spanish ale crossed with an IPA. The balance of fruitiness and deep malts is awe inspiring and makes me proud to claim them as hailing from this great state. As a supporter of fine beer this is a must on your tasting calendar at the  Gilbert Street Hotel.

Clare Valley Brewing - Port Barrel Aged Stout

Another fine effort from CVBC. This stout is fruity with an awesome port aroma that invites the pallet with its intriguing almost Spanish beer like qualities. Drinking this in The Gilbert Street Hotel which has become a South Australian Mecca for great craft breweries in Adelaide. The barrel aging process is starting to get traction with many craft brewers delivering speciality brews using similar techniques. I must admit @ 6% the end results are amazing. Deep malts provide a rich chocolate complexity that is sweet finished in the port barrel. Brilliant score 9.8 out of 10.

Barossa Valley Brewing - Canis Majoris

An awesome IIPA that has a sweet fruity aroma that says: I need to enter your mouth! It has excellent citrus hops with pine tones that are expertly balanced by deep caramel malts. This beer has been beautifully crafted by this master South Australian brewer in the home of fine wine, the Barossa Valley! At 8% it makes a statement but does not compromise on the flavour with a fruity bitter pallet that is the trademark of the fines double IPA's around. Brilliant Canis Majoris  which is perfectly named after the brightest star in the universe, may all your brewery adventures shine this brightly in the Barossa Valley, score a perfect 10!

Big Shed Brewing Concern - Dr Shedlove

Big Shed Brewing Concern Dr Shedlove Imperial Double Stout, 10% BAV, deep chocolate taste with a sweet to bitter after taste. I have heard a lot about it from other reviewers and I agree it is very good. The deep chocolate taste and dark colour is blended with the full richness of the 10% alcohol BAV. Perfect for a cool winters day at lunch, how awesome is life! Another fine effort from The Big Shed Brewing Concern, quickly becoming one of SAs best brewers of fine craft beer! Score 9.5 out of 10.

Fox Hat - Metric IPA

Fox Hat is a brewing offshoot from Vale Brewing in South Australia. It has launched to spectacular affair with this beer winning an award at the Royal Adelaide Beer Show and it is little wonder why. With a whopping 80 IBU on the beer bitterness scale which can be attributed to the tremendous amount of citrus and pine hops. This beer is an American West Coast IPA with malty goodness that is balanced by the bitter hoppy finish. Great things continue to happen on the Adelaide, and Greater Australian, craft beer scene which bodes well for beer lovers everywhere. I loved the 7% ABV which gives it a warm finish to make you appreciate the complex fruits and malts that crown it King. Glad to say that I have a fridge with plenty of Fox Hat on the shelf, nothing less than a perfect 10 as I really like their work!

Exit Brewing IPA

Exit brewing is one of my favourite Brewers and I thought I should review their standard IPA. It's an American West Coast IPA which is seen in the dominant hops that smell awesome with fruity aroma and bitter finish that scream to play on the senses. In the background at the back of your thought you can feel the malty richness watching on the side. This show is dominated by hops! At 7% it lets you know it's party time and has a fresh golden look in the glass with a cloudy display to entice your eyes and wet your appetite. An excellent beer to savour and soak up those hops! Big Shed Brewing - Golden Stout Time

I had the pleasure of tasting this beer at The Gilbert Street Hotel in Adelaide. A great South Australian Success story. It has rich malty tones that dance a rhythmic melody of delight on your tongue like a belly dancer, inviting you to the soirée. It has been described as a Golden  Gaytime in a glass but to be fair the stout is more complex than that with its toffee and chocolate mix. It was surged in popularity through reviews on UnTapped out scoring other people's choice award winners in the process. On sale at the Gilbert Street Hotel for $10.50 a pint, at 6.5% it's a perfect cold winters brew. Score a perfect 10.

Motormouth IPA Tasmanian Van Dieman Brewery, in a word awesome. Barley wine barrel aged in Muscat added to the hops, what a genius move. American Amarillo and Mosaic hops that deliver a melange of fruity mango, citrus and passionfruit characters plus some woody touches pure fruitiness that excels with a jump on the palette that screams for attention. I may have to move to the Apple isle, on tap at the Clever Little Tailor. Score a perfect 10 for inventiveness and character.

Why So Cereal - Mornington Brewery

This is a limited release from the Mornington Peninsula. I had to try it! Clean and crisp on the pallet, refreshing and fruity with a shot of bitterness to invite the freshness to balance on the tongue. The brew combines fruity hops with oats to creat a fine American style Pale Ale that is a fresh change in the beer landscape. The aroma is subtle fruits which connects well with a bitter almost salty dance in your mouth. A fine beer from a fine brewery which is amongst the finest in Australia. If you are lucky enough to have an outstanding brother buying you this kind of quality then you are in exceptional company my friends!🍺🍺  Scire 9 out of 10.
